Too many women are still without, or underestimate the power an illuminator or highlighter can have! Dewy, glowing and perfectly illuminated skin as seen at the SS12 Louis Vuitton show in Paris is my current inspiration & I've been searching the beauty counters to find the perfect highlighter to brigten up our faces all Summer..
Highlighter is designed to catch the light and add shine & illumination to the skin. When carefully applied, the contouring effect can create amazing changes to the appearance of bone structure.
When a few drops are applied to dark circles underneath the eye, the light reflecting particles mean dark circles will dissapear. - Applying a strip down the bridge of your nose means more light will be brought to the centre of your face. - My favourite way to use highlighter is applied to the top of the cheekbones, your cheeks will subtly catch the light as you move - creating wonderfully high cheekbones. Paired with a carefully blended bronzer underneath the cheekbone, even the most round of faces gain incredible definition. - For an instanly fuller pout - apply a small amount to your cupids bow for a perfectly plump pout.
I feel the best products for creating the glowing look are: Mac Strobe Fluid £21.50 - Loaded with vitamins, green tea and light reflecting particles, this is the ultimate beautifying quick fix. Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat £25 - Arguably, the most famous highlighter and with good reason. Ideal one bottle does it all, and it lasts forever. Chanel Eclat Lumiere £26 - Very similar to its YSL sister, yet it has a little more coverage and I feel it lasts longer than the YSL version. Benefit High Beam £18.50 - My favourite pink toned glow, incredibly pretty on cheek and brow bones. I feel the application is far from ideal, having to paint on with a nail varnish-esque brush its easy to apply too much product which can get watery and remove foundation. Perfect, once you get it right! Mac Mineralize Skinfinish £21.50 - My favourite shade is without doubt Soft & Gentle, I use this for nights out as is probanly abit too shimmery for day use. The powder makes it difficult to apply to areas best done with a highlighter pen, but the glow it gives when applied to cheekbones is sublime, especially in photographs. Nars The Multiple £29 - Cream to powder application, the colour range is amazing and I adore the finish not only on cheekbones but on lips & as a base for shimmering eyeshadow. Chanel Soleil Tan Sheer Illuminating Fluid £31 - I love! The illuminantor has a medium consistency that blends well over the skin, allows a little drying time to buff the product in without drying patchily. A beautiful subtle glow that looks flattering and natural.
Which is your favourite highlighter & how do you wear it?
