In 2009, the first Missoni Hotel opened its doors on Edinburghs Royal Mile. Injecting some well received Milanese glamour among the grey streets of the Scottish city, this glamorous addition to the local hotel scene has gained a massive seal of approval by hosting a string of celebrities from Lady GaGa to The Kings of Leon.
Situated just ten minutes walk from Edinburgh Waverly Station, upon arrival you're met by (impeccably dressed in Missoni Knit) doormen who will show you through the lobby-stroke-bar to the shimmering pods that make up the reception area. Decor wise - its everything and more you'd expect from Missoni; exuberant, colourful and daring. The signature monochrome zigzags are combined with eye-popping candy colours, clever lighting and contrasting textures. Every aspect has the Missoni stamp on it.
The Missoni magic continues into the smallest Piccolo Room (from £90 per night) to the largest Suite d'Argento (from £800 per night). Whilst the standard rooms aren't huge, they are perfectly suited to a few nights in the city and the bright purple bathrooms complete with glittery tiling and Missoni amenities more than make up for the lack of space! The in-room goodies are definetley worth writing home about - free half bottles of red & white wine, Peroni beers, a selection of water and crisps alongside premium movies and two free items of laundry per day. There are seven suites in total, the best undoubtedly being the Suite d'Argento with wraparound views of Edinburgh, a luxe living room and spa bathroom.
It would be all too easy to spend the entire stay lazing on the large, seductively comfy beds in your Missoni print dressing gown & matching slippers, drinking espresso from your in-room Nespresso machine watching the world go by through floor to ceiling windows - but the Hotels location is too ridiculously perfect not to take advantage of. For a cultural hit, the Scottish parliament & the Museum of Scotland are just a short walk away. For leisurley summer strolls, you're on the doorstep of Edinburghs superb gardens. Most importantly - a ten minute wander takes you to Princes Street & the chic boutiques of George Street.
The food at Cucina is some of the best to be found in the city. Naturally, the food is Italian, the wine list extensive and the clientele gorgeous. Breakfast is also served in Cucina, comprising everything from cakes, pastries and italians doughnuts to cereals, juices and fruits. Room service is available 24hours & continues the Italian theme with favourite dishes from Cuciana available. The focaccia is truly outstanding.
Taking pride of place at the front of the hotel, Bar Missoni is constantly buzzing with beautiful people drinking amazing cocktails being one of Edinburghs chicest meeting points.
